Bronx Community College to Become First CUNY “ASAP College” In University-wide Plan to Boost Associate Degree Attainment
CUNY is launching one of the most all-encompassing student outcome improvement initiatives in public higher education.
The imprisonment without trial of Kalief Browder and his effort to restart his life at BCC has ignited discussion about criminal justice across the country. Support from individuals moved by his story is helping formerly incarcerated students earn college degrees.
In a Washington Post Op-Ed, the President discusses his banning of solitary confinement for juveniles, citing the tragedy of BCC student Kalief Browder.
"The Beauty of Their Dreams," a documentary produced by BCC's Dept. of Communications Arts and Sciences Chairperson and four-time Emmy award-winner Debra Gonsher, illuminates the stories of people advocating for girls’ education. It airs on ABC affiliated stations on April 17.
