Block Programming
ASAP block programming consists of scheduling courses in blocks of time in the morning and early afternoon, roughly from 8 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday. Block programming has several advantages. It minimizes idle time between classes. It also ensures that students will have a predictable schedule every semester while in school, so that they can attend scheduled workshops and review sessions, and plan their part-time work schedule in the afternoon.
Block programming builds a stronger bond and encourages collaboration among students taking the same courses together. Combined with smaller size study groups, block programming helps students succeed in college. Finally, by sequencing course requirements over a definite time span of five semesters, block programming helps students be more focused on their goal of graduating from BCC.
