John S. Berman,
Acting Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for Evening and Weekend Programs
Mr. John Berman has 25 years of experience in educational policy analysis, program development, and advocacy at all levels. Mr. Berman has an extensive background in analyzing city and state budgets and in conducting applied research of New York City public school and higher education programs. As the author of numerous policy and evaluation reports, Mr. Berman has identified core strategies and model programs to more effectively meet the needs of students. Mr. Berman also has a background in student counseling, advising, and support services for college students and adults. In his most recent post since 2006, Mr. Berman was an educational policy analyst for the Office of the New York City Comptroller. Mr. Berman earned his Bachelor’s in Urban Studies at Hampshire College in 1981 and his Masters degree in Education at New York University in 1986. Mr. Berman is currently ABD in the History of Education doctoral program at NYU.
