CUNY Campaign

A Message from the Campaign Chair

September 9, 2013

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It gives me great pleasure to reach out to you in my capacity as chair of BCC's efforts in this year's CUNY fundraising campaign. As many of you know, the CUNY Campaign for Voluntary Charitable Giving is a long-standing University tradition. It is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to address the critical challenges of communities throughout New York City and beyond by making a financial contribution to any of several hundred nonprofit agencies of our choosing.

This year, we also will have the option of giving back to our own—to worthy projects and programs that contribute so much to the well being of our college family. This year's BCC/CUNY campaign projects are the following:

  • The BCC Early Childhood Center. Our accredited, on-campus preschool center provides students with access to affordable, high quality childcare while they are attending classes. Your support can help the center expand and improve its offerings, thus providing additional benefits to our committed students who are also parents.
  • Study Abroad Programs. The opportunity to study in Austria or China or to participate in one of our other international programs can have a lasting impact on a student's academic future. Donations to this program will help more of our scholars benefit from an international learning experience.
  • BCC Cares. Launched in the aftermath of last year's Hurricane Sandy, BCC Cares provides funds for any deserving member of the BCC family who is a victim of any natural catastrophe that qualifies for New York State Emergency Disaster Relief. Students, staff and faculty are all eligible.

You are, of course, still free to support your own favorite charity. But those who want to contribute to one of our many deserving campus programs can do so through the BCC Foundation. Just enter code 13180 on the campaign donation form. This is a great opportunity to show support for Bronx Community College at its best.

I am hoping that everyone will join me as we work towards our goal of 100 percent campus participation. No donation is too small. Just one person giving one dollar can bring us closer to that goal. Starting now and continuing through December 13, campaign representatives in each division will be reminding you to make your pledge to donate. Our college mascot, the BCC Bronco, also will be popping up around campus with a small token of our appreciation.

And as the Bronco might say, "Thanks for Giving."

Best,

Mary E. Coleman,
Senior Vice President
Administration and Finance and
Chair, BCC/CUNY 2013 Campaign for Voluntary Charitable Giving
