CUNYfirst: Annual Disaster Recovery Drill and System Availability Starting Fri, August 3 at 4 PM

The annual CUNYfirst Disaster Recovery Drill (DR Drill) is scheduled the weekend of August 3-5, 2018. During this DR Drill, CUNYfirst will be unavailable to users as follows:

CUNYfirst unavailability start time: 4:00 pm on Friday, August 3
CUNYfirst unavailability end time: 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 5

CUNYfirst Payroll Interface launch completed: CUNYfirst now available to all

The Payroll Interface launch for the remaining Colleges has completed ahead of schedule. CUNYfirst is now available to all.

Regular nightly data extracts and transfers will resume starting tonight, July 14.

CUNYfirst Payroll Interface launch: CUNYfirst unavailable from 11 PM on Thur, July 12 – 6 PM on Sat, July 14

CUNYfirst will be launching the Payroll Interface for the remaining colleges that results in Campus Solutions (CS) and Human Capital Management (HCM) functions* being unavailable as follows:

Unavailable start time: 11:00 PM ET on Thursday, July 12, 2018
Unavailable end time: 6:00 PM ET on Saturday, July 14, 2018

*NOTE: The CUNYfirst Financial pillar functions and CUNYfirst Reporting Instances will remain available during the Payroll Interface launch. Only the nightly data extracts and transfers from the Finance pillar will take place during the launch.

CUNYfirst – which stands for Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool – is a suite of software that has replaced many of our aging computer systems in the areas of Student Administration, Finance and Human Resources. The ongoing implementation of all CUNYfirst applications involves a multi-year process with CUNY colleges being brought online several institutions at a time. The new software continues to play a key role in helping the University realize its goal of an integrated CUNY.

    Putting into place systems and procedures that comply with CUNY's common goal of providing the best customer service to our students, faculty, staff and community

    Implementing common processes that can be accepted across the University while allowing campuses to continue their unique missions
  • Self-Service
    Making available modern systems and processes that allow the user more control and flexibility
  • Accurate and timely information to better serve students, faculty and staff
    Accessing information in real time
  • Replacement of aging computer systems
    Retiring systems that have reached their capacity and replacing them with the most modern educational and business systems

Whom does CUNYfirst affect?

Everyone in CUNY. Students, faculty and staff are all affected in a positive way. With this integration, students' records are linked to business and finance systems, and personnel records for faculty and staff are connected University-wide.

What areas have acquired new systems?

CUNYfirst consists of three main sections: Campus Solutions (Student Administration), Human Resources and Finance. In each of these sections, new systems have changed the way we do business in a number of key areas:
