PUBLIC SAFETY – Protocols for Commencement Day

Important Message to the BCC College Community and All Visitors,

We are proud to be holding Bronx Community College's 56th Commencement on campus on Friday, June 3, 2016 beginning at 9:30 a.m. We expect a very large turnout for the event and are all looking forward to a day filled with anticipation and pride.

As always, the Department of Public Safety is charged with providing a safe and secure environment. As a precautionary measure to best ensure the safety of all present, the following rules of entry will be observed:

Public Safety will conduct package inspections of all persons entering the campus.  This includes backpacks, handbags, shopping bags, etc.  To expedite your access to the campus, we suggest that you, your family and guests keep baggage to a minimum.

Balloons are not permitted inside the tent so we advise that you not bring them on campus as we will not be responsible for them.

Also, please note the following with regard to parking, campus entry and seating:

  • The Main Gate will be open all day to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • The Osborne Gate will be open to vehicles only from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • The University Avenue entrance will be open to pedestrians all day.
  • The Andrews Gate (which is the one closest to Ohio Field where the Commencement is taking place) will be open to pedestrians only from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Only BCC employees with valid parking permits will be allowed to park on campus.
  • Students and guests will be allowed to park in the Student Parking Lot until it is full.
  • Seating will begin in the area of Ohio Field at 8:00 a.m.

Thank you for your assistance in making the 56th Commencement a safe and memorable event for everyone.  Congratulations to our deserving BCC graduates!

James Verdicchio, Director
