First, on behalf of the Department of Public Safety, congratulations to all the Graduates of 2016.
We are proud to be holding Bronx Community College’s 56th Commencement on campus on Friday, June 3, 2016 beginning at 9:30 a.m. We expect a very large turnout for the event and are all looking forward to a day filled with anticipation and pride.
Public Safety will conduct package inspections of all persons entering the campus. This includes backpacks, handbags, shopping bags, etc. To expedite your access to the campus, we suggest that you, your family and guests keep baggage to a minimum.
Balloons are not permitted inside the tent so we advise that you not bring them on campus as we will not be responsible for them.
As always, the Department of Public Safety is charged with providing a safe and secure environment. As a precautionary measure to best ensure the safety of all present, the following rules of entry will be observed:
All those entering the campus will need to show a valid BCC ID Card or a Graduation Ticket to one of the graduation venues – Ohio Field, Nichols Auditorium, Schwendler Auditorium, the Playhouse, Gould Memorial Library and North Hall. Anyone not able to present a valid BCC ID or Graduation Ticket will not be allowed on campus.
Anyone needing a current BCC ID is urged to go immediately to the ID Office in Colston Hall on the 5th Floor. This office will be open until 6:00 p.m. today.
All packages are subject to search upon entering the campus.
Osborne Gate will be open to vehicular traffic (no pedestrian traffic) throughout the day; the Main Gate will be closed to vehicles from 7:30 a.m. until the event is over. The Main Gate will be open to pedestrians and is handicapped accessible to all areas except Ohio Field. Andrews Gate will be open to pedestrians and is handicapped accessible to Ohio Field. The University Avenue Gate will be open to pedestrians but is not handicapped accessible.
The Bliss Parking Lot area will be closed to all vehicles. The Patterson and Student Lots will be open on a first come, first served basis.
Public Safety has reached out to several City Agencies, and there will be relaxed parking rules in effect around the College.
