Health Information Technology Coordinator
This program is designed for health professionals with clinical or health care support services experience in a hospital, ambulatory care center, or private practice office/group (e.g. MD, RN, EMTP). The program will provide the practical knowledge and skills necessary to be part of the team that will plan and implement electronic health records (EHR) for providers and/or serve as the EHR coordinator in a facility, unit, or office.
The program is designed to enhance clinical analysis and decision skills with new knowledge and skills in project management and information technology.
An RN degree, MD, master’s in public health, EMTP, or an associate degree in a health care discipline with at least two years of work experience in a clinical health care setting. LPNs and PCAs may apply. Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Evaluation will include level of clinical work experience. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office is required.
Textbooks required at additional cost. Learning materials are targeted to the emerging electronic health record technology.
Graduates of the HITECH Coordinator Certification will be equipped to lead health information technology implementation projects.
