Amadou Diallo Commemoration and Youth Hip Hop Activism Day
Sixteen years ago an unarmed Amadou Diallo was killed in the Bronx in an hail of police bullets. This day-long commemoration will celebrate Amadou’s brief life and sacrifice with poetry, music and theater from local youth and school groups, while professional hip hop MCs, writers, dancers, graffiti artists, DJs and activists lead hands-on workshops on the creative force of hip hop as a powerful tool of non-violent protest.
