Podcasting at BCC
Podcasts are digital audio or audio/video recordings which are made available
to users through online systems which can store and, in some cases, permit downloading and delivery of
the files. Podcasts have many potential educational uses: to reinforce classroom learning, to supplement
classroom instruction, or to offer students a means of creating multimedia projects. Our goal at BCC
is to explore the potential of podcasts in all these areas, and to begin developing the support structures
needed to make podcasting a part of teaching and learning. How are we doing this?
- We are working with CUNY on the iTunes U podcasting
project (see the iTunes U page
for a description of the project)
- We have collaborated with BCC's IT Department to set up a Faculty Media
Server (see the Media Server page)
- We offer workshops on creating audio and video content (see the Workshop
Calendar), and an extended faculty development program on integrating podcasts into instructional
strategies (see Podcasting and Web 2.0 Faculty Development Programs).
