Remote Access to Licensed Databases

With a valid CUNYcard, all faculty, staff, and students can remotely access most of the CUNY licensed electronic resources.  The steps are as follows:

  1. Make sure your library barcode (located at the bottom right of your CUNYcard) is validated for the current semester/year.  You can now check online by clicking on check your library record.  If your barcode is not validated and you are currently a member of BCC, then contact the Library (718-289-5441)or the G.S. Lieblich Learning Center (718-289-5346) circulation desks. Please note: At BCC, students library barcode needs to be updated every semester; faculty and staff library barcode needs to be updated at the beginning of each academic year.
  2. To access the databases, go to the CUNY Licensed Resources webpage.  Click on the "green house" icon next to the database you want to search.  You will then be prompted to enter your library barcode number (do not include any spaces).
For more information, go to CUNY's FAQ page on remote accessing.

Proxy Account - Faculty Only
Through a Proxy Service provided by CUNY's Office of Library Services, faculty can also access the licensed electronic resources remotely.  This method provides access to some additional databases, including  American Chemical Society Publications, ARTFL, Current Contents Connect, and Dialog@Carl.  For more information on applying for a proxy account, go to CUNY's Office of Library Services website.

IMPORTANT:  Before applying for a proxy account, please make sure that your library barcode (on the bottom right of your CUNYcard) is validated.  You can do this by contacting the Library (718-289-5441)or the G.S. Lieblich Learning Center (718-289-5346) circulation desks OR fill out and submit our online CUNYcard activation/update form (you will receive a response within 24 hours).
