Take the CUNY Assessment Tests in Reading, Writing and Math.
Demonstrate need for skills development in math (only) based on your CUNY Assessment Test Results. Specifically, you must have received non-passing scores in both Math 1 (arithmetic/pre-algebra) and Math 2 (elementary algebra). You must also have passing scores in both reading and writing.
Attend an information session where you will learn more about the program, fill out an application and have a one-on-one interview.
Students must attend an information session before filling out an application for Math Start. Information sessions are held on an ongoing basis.
How to prepare for an information session:
Please bring a photo ID and a pen to take notes.
Be prepared to discuss your personal commitments and responsibilities outside of school (ie: work schedule, medical appointments, family obligations) and explain how you will adjust your schedule to accommodate for Math Start.
Information sessions can take up to two hours. Latecomers to info sessions will have to re-schedule. Every student is given individual attention to ensure that Math Start is a good fit.
