CPE Appeals
There are five situations in which students may appeal to the CPE Liaison to request an exception to university policy. Those situations are as follows:
- To take the exam even though you will not have accrued 45 credits during the current semester.
- To take the exam even though your GPA is under 2.0.
- To postpone taking the exam even though you have 45 credits prior to the current semester.
- To have a forfeit (absence from a required test) removed from your record.
- To take the exam even though you have failed it three times.
Appeals Procedure:
Students who wish to appeal must file a form with Dr. Rex Butt, the CPE Liaison. He then presents the appeal to the CPE Appeals Committee, which decides whether or not to grant the student’s request. The Committee’s decision is then submitted by the Liaison to the Testing Office, CO 711.
The CPE Appeals Committee meets four times each academic year: the third week of September, the second week of December, the last week of February, the second week of May, and the third week of September.
Appeals Deadlines:
To be considered for the Fall or Spring terms, completed appeals forms must be turned in to the CPE Liaison by the end of the third week of classes. For the “extended semester” administrations (January and June), completed appeal forms must be in by December 10 and May 10. Appeals filed after these deadlines are unlikely to receive attention from the Appeals Committee until the following administration.
