The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh

After seeing Fallingwater house, we went to Pittsburgh to visit the Andy Warhol Museum. Warhol was an artist who transformed contemporary art through his paintings, sculptures, drawings, films and personality. He erased the distinctions between fine art and popular culture and made art more accessible, appealing and alive. I especially liked the paintings of the Electric Chair, the Campbgell soup cans and the room full of Silver clouds. I looked at the materials Andy used to paint and I saw objects from his personal collection. Warhol's collection contained important examples of Art Deco furniture and silver, 19th century American art, Native American arts, a dazzling collection of jewelry, the Fiestaware dishes that Andy loved and lots of cookie jars. The cookie jars were all labeled and arranged against one wall. There were jars for different kinds of candies or any kind of junk food you could imagine. I treasure the entire museum and my brothers loved it too. I want to go back with family and close friends and stay for hours.
