Dr. Shenkman holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching and is Deputy Chairperson of the Department of Education and Reading. In her capacity as Director, she reports to the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. She has developed and led faculty development seminars, created communities of faculty practice, presented at national and local conferences about issues of teaching and learning and published in numerous professional journals. At BCC, she is also Director of the Freshman Learning Community and serves on the President’s Coordinating Planning Council and the Senior Vice President’s Success Council. Professor Shenkman has been Activity Director for several national and state grants, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Title V Cooperative Grant, and the New York State Carl. D. Perkins Vocational and Technology Act Grant. |
