Becoming Informed: Film Screening of Decades of Fire

Nov 19 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The BCC President’s Conversation Series and BCC Reads invite all in the community to:
Decade of Fire: The South Bronx is Burning
Screening and Talkback with Director Vivian Vázquez Irizarry
Tuesday November 19, 2019 12pm to 2:30pm
Hall of Fame Playhouse

In the 1970s, the South Bronx was burning. Nearly half a million people were displaced as the city government abandoned them. While government policies caused the devastation, the neighborhood’s Black and Puerto Rican communities were blamed. Bronx-born Director Vivian Vázquez Irizarry reveals the truth in this documentary, and tells the story on how communities came together and resisted.

Co-sponsored by the BCC President’s Conversation Series and BCC Reads.
