CUNY SCIENCE LECTURE SERIES:
Climate and Sustainability

CUNY is proud to present its second annual science lecture series and exhibition on Governors Island this summer. The exhibition will focus on climate change and sustainability and how these changes will affect life in the metropolitan region in the 21st century. This year’s theme addresses stabilizing the climate in the 21st century and energy solutions for the 21st century. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, starting June 2 and ending September 1.

This is an exceptional opportunity to promote the high quality science research and education being carried out at earth and environmental departments at CUNY.  An important part of the exhibit will include an informational table for literature about the earth and environmental science departments and programs at the various CUNY campuses.

These events are part of Focus the Nation (www.focusthenation.org ), which is a major, non-political, educational initiative that will coordinate teams of faculty and students at over a thousand colleges, universities, and high schools in the United States, to collaboratively engage in a nationwide, interdisciplinary discussion centered around the theme of “Stabilizing the Climate in the 21st Century.” Queens College as well other CUNY colleges are already designing events around this initiative. If you are interested in coordinating events on your campus with QC or other CUNY campuses contact Stephen.pekar@qc.cuny.edu .
