Homelessness and Food Insecurity

We can help connect you to food and housing services on and off campus. Once you are receiving the help that you need, we can provide you with emotional support, problem solving and coping skills to get through a challenging time.

Single Stop @BCC

For SNAP (“Food Stamps”) hunger, eviction prevention and housing concerns, Single Stop should be your first stop. Located in Loew Hall [LO], Room 118, Single Stop houses the BCC food pantry. Single Stop can also provide information, referrals and legal assistance.

Off-Campus Resources

Call 311 for information about eviction prevention, HRA Emergency Assistance (One Shot Program) or for extensive information on finding emergency shelter.

Contact the Food and Hunger Hotline at 866-888-8777 Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM for help finding a meal. The hotline provides emergency referrals to over 600 soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the city.

WIC

WIC is for low-income pregnant women, breast-feeding women and children up to age five. Recipients receive supplemental food, formula, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and access to healthcare and other social services.

  • You can work and still get WIC.
  • You can continue to get welfare or food stamps while receiving WIC.
  • Immigrants can get WIC–even if undocumented.

Community Meals for Children

In June, July and August, breakfast and lunch are served for free to all children under 18 at many public schools, houses of worship, recreation centers, and community centers. Call 311 or text NYCmeals to 877-877 to find the location nearest to you.
