Safe Space Mission Statement
The Safe Space Program at Bronx Community College provides a network of allies to the LGBTQI+ community. This network consists of staff, faculty, and students committed to creating and promoting a safe LGBTQI+ – friendly college environment.
Bigotry and discrimination against LGBTQI+ persons will not be tolerated at Bronx Community College.
Safe Space Program Learning Outcomes
Faculty, staff, and students who participate in the Safe Space Program will:
- Learn the meanings of various terms and identities related to LGBTQI+ individuals;
- Understand the differences between sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation;
- Identify challenges specific to LGBTQI+ individuals;
- Identify resources for LGBTQI+ individuals on campus, in the greater community and online.

7th Annual Holiday Sock Drive
The Rainbow Alliance will be collecting new socks for the homeless LGBTQ youth of Sylvia’s Place starting Friday, November 22, and up to Friday, December 13. Socks may be dropped off at the LGBTQI+ Resource Room in RBSC 301, Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
