ECC Philosophy on Teaching and Learning

The child is the focus of attention at the Early Childhood Center. Our philosophy lies in our respect for the "specialties" of young children and our genuine delight in the unfolding wonders of their growth and development.

Research has shown that young children learn best through active exploration and interaction with adults, children, and materials.  In particular, children learn when they initiate and direct their own play activities.  We give children an opportunity to choose from a variety of activities, materials, equipment and time to explore through active involvement.

Our philosophy is to create different types of environments where children blossom while learning through play—and acquiring skills which they choose—to help them develop their fullest potential emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually.
