How to Respond to Student Writing: An Introduction to Minimal Marking
Wednesday, September 11, 2013
(CTLT) Philosophy Hall, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Instructor: Julia Rodas
Available Seats = 15 | Waiting List = 0
Minimal marking is a foundational WAC strategy that encourages faculty to respond primarily to content in student papers. Rather than editing every single spelling or grammar mistake in an assignment, minimal marking emphasizes a holistic grading process in which faculty focus on larger issues of meaning and organization and simply point out recurring patterns of mechanical error - ultimately teaching students the skill of self-correction.
