Alexander Ott Appointed Dean of Curriculum Advancement and Student Achievement

Bronx Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Ott as Dean of Curriculum Advancement and Student Achievement, effective immediately.

Ott brings more than two decades of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with a strong record of advancing academic programs, strengthening curriculum development, and supporting student success initiatives. He currently serves as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Curriculum Matters and Academic Programs at Bronx Community College, where he has contributed significantly to the development of new academic programs through collaboration with faculty as well as the continuous improvement of academic policies and processes.

As Associate Dean, Dr. Ott has provided leadership in institutional academic planning, including co-coordinating the development and implementation of the College’s Academic Master Plans. He also played a key role in curriculum governance, program accreditation efforts, and the advancement of transfer initiatives, while working closely with stakeholders across the College to ensure quality, compliance, and alignment with institutional goals.

Dr. Ott previously held senior leadership positions at the New York Institute of Technology, where he served as Associate Dean of Academic and Enrollment Support Services and Director of Transfer Evaluations. In these roles, he provided strategic oversight of student support services, led data-informed initiatives to improve retention, and supported the development of academic programs and policies.

As Dean of Curriculum Advancement and Student Achievement, Dr. Ott will provide leadership and strategic direction for curriculum development, academic innovation, and student achievement initiatives. His work will support BCC’s strategic goals, academic standards, accreditation requirements, and student success priorities. He will also oversee areas including pre-college programs, online programs, and transfer services. Dr. Ott’s existing portfolio of pre-college program oversight has been expanded to Future Now, the Early College Initiative, College Now, and CUNY Explorers.

Dr. Ott holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Administration and Supervision and an MA in Political Science from Fordham University as well as a BA in Philosophy and Political Science from SUNY Geneseo.
