Fall 2024 Activities

The Justice & Advocacy Alliance semester activities aim to reduce stigma and develop a sense of community by providing educational workshops, programming, and support services for justice-impacted students & allies at BCC.

Justice & Advocacy Alliance Book Club: The Justice & Advocacy Alliance hosts a book club twice a month to encourage reading, improve communication, raise awareness, and help students build a community at BCC. The Alliance will provide the books and discussion questions that center on justice impacted communities. Join us with an open mind and lead with empathy as may have difficult conversations. Books provided to students during book club membership.

You Good? Alliance Check-in Group: The Alliance in collaboration is offering a weekly virtual support group to share experiences and feelings about the criminal legal system. The goal is to reduce isolation and loneliness and to feel more empowered and connected to your peers and the BCC community.

Wednesday’s 9:00am-9:30am. Our first group meeting is scheduled for October 23,

Justice Alliance Student Club: The purpose of the Justice Alliance Student Club at BCC is to understand the assets and challenges of individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. The goal is to learn how to advocate for justice-impacted communities. Involvement in this club helps students develop new skills, improve communication, and practice teamwork. The club provides opportunities for networking with peers and professionals and helps students develop leadership skills and serve the BCC and larger community. All students are welcome to participate in this student-led club.

Thursday’s 12:30-1:30pm (in-person, Gould Hall room 205, Alliance Academic Lounge). Currently, looking for student leaders (President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer) and members. If you are interested in participating in this student led club, please email Alliance@bcc.cuny.edu as soon as possible so we can charter this club starting this semester. First meeting is Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024.
