BCC’s Irene R. Delgado Honored at International Seminar at the United Nations
Bronx Community College celebrates Irene R. Delgado, Ph.D., Director of Career Advancement and Immigrant Success Liaison, for her participation in an international seminar held July 7, 2026, at United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Dr. Delgado moderated the seminar, titled “Establishing Global Peace for Sustainable Development — The Role of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.” The gathering brought together diplomats, academics, faith leaders, peace ambassadors and international delegates to advance conversations surrounding global cooperation, sustainable development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The seminar also commemorated the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence and emphasized the importance of partnerships in building a more peaceful and sustainable future.
During the event, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Madhu Krishan, Chairman and Chief Rector/Chancellor of the United Nations University for Global Peace USA and the American University USA, delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Krishan also conferred upon Dr. Delgado an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Communication. She was additionally presented with the Human Excellence Golden Award and a Citation of Honor in recognition of her professional achievements and service.
Dr. Delgado’s participation and recognition reflect the knowledge, leadership and commitment to community that members of the BCC community bring to important conversations in New York City and around the world.
