Bronx Community College is expanding its global partnerships through a recent visit to the Dominican Republic by President Dr. Larry D. Johnson, Jr. During the visit, Dr. Johnson met with Dr. Jorge Asjana David, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), to explore opportunities for academic collaboration between the two institutions.

Potential joint programs and initiatives in the social and technological fields were discussed, including opportunities for both in-person and virtual learning. Such collaboration will create new opportunities for BCC students and faculty while promoting academic, cultural and scientific exchange between the Dominican Republic and the United States.

Joining Dr. Johnson were Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Luis Montenegro; Dr. Katherine Acevedo, Director of Special Projects, Study Abroad Programs and Global Initiatives; and Dr. Barbara Flores-Caballero, Associate Professor in the Department of Education and Kinesiology.

The visit reflects BCC’s commitment to expanding global opportunities for its students and faculty while strengthening connections with the Dominican diaspora.
