Dr. Diane P. Banks Celebrated for Advancing STEM Education in the Bronx

Dr. Diane P. Banks was recognized by Bronx and national leaders for advancing STEM education and highlighting the historical contributions of Black Americans to science.Bronx Community College proudly celebrates Dr. Diane P. Banks, Assistant Professor in the Biological Sciences Department and Program Director of the Medical Laboratory Technician Program, for receiving four distinguished awards recognizing her commitment to educating the Bronx community on the history of Black Americans and their contributions to science.

On February 20, 2026, Dr. Banks was honored by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, State Senator Jamaal Bailey, NYC Council Member Kevin Riley, and U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres. These recognitions highlight her dedication to expanding STEM education, deepening public understanding of science history, and inspiring the next generation of scientists.

We congratulate Dr. Banks on this well‑deserved recognition and thank her for her leadership, scholarship, and service to our students and the broader Bronx community.
