Middle States Open Forum Held
All faculty, staff, and students were invited to attend an open forum with Middle States Vice President, Dr. Kristy Bishop last month in the Roscoe Brown Playhouse. Dr. Bishop explained the re-accreditation process and answered questions about what to expect over the next two years as the College prepares for its Spring 2027 evaluation visit.
Planning for BCC’s overall Self-Study– an important process that occurs every eight years in preparation for the evaluation visit– began this past fall. Re-accreditation by Middle States is essential, as it affects the college’s ability to disperse federal financial aid and ensure that student credits are transferable to other higher education institutions.
On Friday, May 9, more than 50 people attended a kick-off meeting for the Middle States Self-Study Working Groups. Beginning in the fall, the Working Groups will meet every two-three weeks to gather relevant evidence that will be used to craft the College’s responses to the seven Middle States Standards.
