The Student Government Association (SGA) of Bronx Community College organized a virtual symposium on the timely topic “Black Lives Matter: Do They Matter to You?” The impassioned panelists who brought their insights to the November 17 event included New York City Council Member Vanessa L. Gibson. SGA President Priscilla Tokor and Gabriel Morillo, SGA Executive Legal Legislator, organized the event with SGA adviser Tiffany Dubon, all of whom spoke at the event. SGA Senator Lennin Charalla-Quintanilla also assisted in making the afternoon possible.

The panel, whose contributions ranged from thoughtful analysis to a vibrant call to action, was moderated by Daren Jaime, host of the BronxNet news interview show Open. In addition to Council Member Gibson, panelists included SGA Senator Kenneth Flowers; Clifford L. Marshall II, Program Manager of the Male Empowerment Network; and Shermekia Pierce, Inter-Organizational Council Manager.
