Chancellor Matos Rodríguez Visits BCC

Dr. Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, Chancellor of The City University of New York, visited the campus of Bronx Community College on the morning of Thursday, October 8. The Chancellor was met at the Hall of Fame Gate by BCC President Thomas A. Isekenegbe, Provost Lester Sandres Rápalo, Vice President Kay Ellis and Vice President Irene R. Delgado, all of whom were wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

The Chancellor toured a campus still active even as most classes are being conducted online. Dr. Matos Rodríguez met with the dedicated staff of BCC’s Food Pantry, Public Safety and Physical Plant Services. He then visited a Clinical Hematology classroom in Meister Hall, one of the few buildings open on campus for those laboratory classes not suited for an online modality and requiring the physical presence of students and faculty. The grand tour ended at the Early Childhood Center, where the Chancellor spoke with the director and staff while enjoying the company of the children of BCC students studying elsewhere on campus.

“It was a pleasure to spend time with the Chancellor,” noted President Isekenegbe. “This was an opportunity to show Dr. Matos Rodríguez the resiliency of Bronx Community College and how it is persevering through the pandemic and preparing for the eventual return of all our students and faculty.”
