Advancing Racial Justice & Equitable Outcomes at Community Colleges Institute

When:             Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 8:30am to 5:30pm

Where:            Bronx Community College

Who:               Community College Faculty and Staff in the Tri-State region

This Institute seeks to provide training in culturally responsive practices (i.e. recognizing implicit bias, engaging in intergroup race dialogues, and combating Racial Battle Fatigue). The goal of the Institute is to provide attendees with the tools to develop and implement equity plans that facilitate positive cross-racial exchanges, culturally response pedagogies, and positive narratives about underserved racial identities.

The Institute is run by the Office of Community College Research and Leadership (OCCRL) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, led by Dr. Eboni Zamani-Gallaher (keynote speaker at BCC Faculty Day 2017). The day will include keynote speakers and breakout workshop sessions.

For a program, please see institute website.

50 spots have been set aside for BCC faculty and staff.

Registration is free and is available here:

https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/1065659

Don’t wait! These spots will be held for BCC affiliates until May 30th. Then these spots will be opened to the Tri-State region until filled.
