AUTO TECH PROGRAM LAUNCHES MAJOR PARTNERSHIP WITH NISSAN/INFINITI
Bronx Community College’s popular Automotive Technology program, the only program of its kind in The City University of New York, is joining forces with two dozen local auto dealerships to bring the Nissan/Infiniti Technician Training Academy Program to BCC’s University Heights campus. The program will include the contribution of four late model cars on which students will master the skills of today’s computer-savvy automotive technician, training for Auto Tech faculty in the latest developments in the field and salaried internships (also good for college credit) at service centers across the city that can lead to well-paid careers with Nissan/Infiniti.
Representatives from Nissan and the dealerships participating in the program will be on hand for a special event launching the partnership. It will begin at BCC’s historic Gould Memorial Library with an overview of the Nissan/Infiniti Technician Training Academy Program and the BCC collaboration. This will be followed by a tour of Auto Tech’s state-of-the-art facilities in Sage Hall.
“Our partnership with Nissan will allow Automotive Technology to expand our current internship program — students will work with a mentor to develop hands-on experience,” says Automotive Technology Director Clement Drummond. “Our goal is to be the first choice for automotive technology education in New York City and the first place the automotive and transportation industry will look for skilled graduates.”
