BCC Chorus Sings in the Season

  Feature, News   •

The green marble columns of the Gould Memorial Library Rotunda rang with the celestial sounds of the BCC Chorus on Thursday, December 13 — and no one was happier with the results than Conductor (and bass) Ben Yarmolinsky.

“I was gratified by today’s performance. Our small chorus outdid itself, and we had a warm reception from a quite respectable audience. We were able to offer a varied program of original, traditional and classical pieces — everything from Medieval music to Broadway. Everyone had a good time and we look forward to more next semester.”
The choristers included Sopranos Mavis Hastick and Mira Johnson, and altos Maylu Nguyen, Emalinda McSpadden and Evelyn Asantewaah.

The chorus was accompanied on piano by Professor Renée Briggs and on guitar by Professor Yarmolinsky, both of the BCC Department of Art and Music. Prof. Yarmolinsky also composed two of the numbers. The concert concluded with a group of Christmas carols, to which the audience members were invited to add their voices. The braver ones did.
