BCC Holds Two-Day Conference on Community College Excellence
BCC’s 11th Annual Conference on Community College Excellence, held online Feb. 8 and in person Feb. 9, brought together educators, researchers and administrators from BCC and other community colleges throughout the region to discuss challenges and opportunities faced by urban colleges as we move deeper into the 21st century.
Interim President Milton Santiago and Provost & Vice President Luis Montenegro set the stage for Day Two with opening remarks. Conference themes focused on navigating the intricacies of urban education; promoting equitable practices; and ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, can not only access but also thrive within the educational ecosystem.
BCC was fortunate to have Dr. David Kirkland as a guest speaker. As an activist, educator, cultural critic and author, Dr. Kirkland is a leading national scholar and advocate for educational justice. He spoke passionately about intentionally designing experiences where students succeed.
