BCC Nursing Degree Reaccredited
Bronx Community College’s Associate in Applied Sciences degree in the Nursing program has been granted continuing accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
This decision was made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners at their September meeting.
“This achievement is due to the hard work of the program leadership, faculty and students,” says BCC President Thomas A. Isekenegbe. “I would like to thank, in particular, Dr. Kenya Harris, Prof. Helen Papas-Kavalis, Dr. Nefertiti Cano and Prof. Shanell Rawls. Their work in writing the self-study, gathering and validating the documentation and coordinating the successful site visit itself made this continuation of accreditation possible.”
ACEN accreditation ensures that BCC can continue to prepare and graduate nurses, which is more essential then ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. The next site evaluation visit will be in eight years — Spring 2028.
