BCC’s Annual STEM Day Celebration Highlights Student and Faculty STEM Research

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, more than 200 students and faculty members participated in the 2024 Undergraduate BCC STEM Day in Gould Memorial Library, highlighting the STEM research efforts of students and faculty. Attendees enjoyed a variety of engaging activities, including 20 inspiring student research poster presentations, showcases, panel discussions, and talks designed to deepen understanding and appreciation for the STEM fields.

The day was organized by the STEM Advisory Board and sponsored by the NSF, SSTEM, CSTEP, CRSP, LSAMP, and ASAP.

STEM DayEsteemed speakers and panelists included Milton Santiago, Ph.D., Interim President of BCC, CUNY; Joshua Brumberg, Ph.D., Interim President of the Graduate Center, CUNY; Luis Montenegro, Ph.D., Provost of BCC, CUNY; Annette “Nina” Gray, Ph.D., Assistant Vice Provost of Research Planning & Analysis, NYU; Shuangping Shi, Associate Vice President and Head of Biologics Process Research & Development at Merck; Mark Hauber, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC), CUNY; Mohammad Q.
