Community Town Hall on Enrollment Process Yields Valuable Feedback
BCC’s Division of Enrollment Management hosted a community conversation regarding the enrollment process on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Faculty and staff members from various departments across campus, including Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office and Academic Advising along with some interested students attended, sharing information and engaging in discussion around the enrollment process.
“It was a valuable internal assessment on the areas where we are performing well and will continue and those that can be tweaked,” Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Bernard J. Gantt said. “Listening to the voices of individuals on the frontline of the enrollment process is important. We will be working on solutions and incorporating them into our strategic plan consisting of both short and long-term goals.”
According to Dr. Gantt, conversation ensued around improving key areas of the enrollment process such as course availability, staff availability, clarity in communication and the offering of dates, times and locations in which enrollment takes place. Ideas were bounced around about bringing back Accepted Students Day and maintaining a focus on transfer students.
Panel members participating in the event were:
- Joshua Perez – Admissions
- David Woods – Financial Aid
- Karen Thomas – Registrar
- Roni Ben-Nun – Chairperson/Co-Chair of the Advising Committee
Other speakers included representatives from CUNY Start, CLIP, College Now, CUNY Edge, Future Now, College Discovery, FYP, ASAP, ASC, ECI and the Communications & Marketing Office. An enrollment process survey will be distributed to students, faculty and staff in the coming weeks.
