Gonsher, Debra

Dr. Debra Gonsher is a five-time Emmy award-winning documentarian, most recently for Beauty of Their Dreams, an examination of people’s advocacy for girls’ education worldwide. Her current work is a two-part series, Brightness of Noon: The Intersect of Faith, Immigration and Refugees, which is airing on ABC-affiliated stations. She is the author of Embracing Judaism: Stories of Renewed Faith (1999); CareerSpeak: Voice and Diction for the Business and Professions (2007); and The Community College Guide (2010) co-authored with Dr. Joshua Halberstam. Her research and teaching interests are Social Justice Documentary Filmmaking, Film and Video Production, Interfaith Communication, Web Series. Dr. Gonsher holds a M.A. in Theatre from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in Theatre Criticism from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
