Dr. Jillian Hess specializes in nineteenth-century writing practices. Her writing investigates how authors organized information in notebooks -- particularly their commonplace books (personal collections of quotations and information) and scrapbooks. At BCC, she teaches courses on writing (ENG 111 and 112), British literature (ENG 125) and women’s literature (ENG 157). Dr. Hess loves having conversations about the writing process, technologies of writing, and epistemology (how we know what we know).
