Dr. Shelley Liu is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Social Sciences at Bronx Community College. She received her Ph.D. degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. She was a criminal investigator for a local police department in China before she studied for her Ph.D. degree in the U.S. Her research interests include comparative criminal justice, policing, and police attitudes toward the use of force. Her current research focuses on distance learning and its effects on student success, which is aligned with her student-centered teaching philosophy. Her publications appeared in several criminal justice journals, including, but not limited to, Feminist Criminology, International Journals of Police Science and Management, and Journal of Police and Criminal Psychology.
