Padurano, Dominique

Dominique Padurano, Ph.D., received her doctorate in U.S. history in 2007 from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Dr. Padurano’s dissertation, “Making American Men: Charles Atlas and the Business of Bodies, 1892-1945,” explores the life and career of this Italian immigrant-turned-fitness icon through the lenses of race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality between the wars. She has published pieces on Italian America and consumer culture, as well as on the use of images in teaching about race and gender, and on photography in prewar America. In 2014, Dr. Padurano founded and operates Crimson Coaching LLC, a tutoring company, in Riverdale, where she also lives, and lectures widely on topics related to secondary education. A certified high school teacher and yoga instructor, Dr. Padurano also teaches yoga at Taro Pharmaceuticals.
