Dr. Sheldon Skaggs is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Bronx Community College. He specializes in geoarchaeology with a focus on ancient Maya archaeology. He has conducted extensive geophysical surveys in the state of Georgia, and the countries of Belize and Italy. He is the co-Field Director of the ancient Maya archaeology project (PRAP) at the site of Pacbitun, Belize, and has mentored student research/excavations there since 2013. He has published extensively, most recently in the journals Mexicon and Remote Sensing. Dr. Skaggs is also a cofounder of Advanced Metal Detecting for the Archaeologist (AMDA), which offers Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) continuing education credit classes at historical and battlefield sites around the United States.
