Ticke, Lynne

Born in Brooklyn, Dr. Lynne Ticke, earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from The CUNY Graduate Center. While earning her doctoral degree, Dr. Ticke was fortunate to have several opportunities that allowed her to apply her academic training to applied settings.  She conducted research for the NYC Board of Education’s Department of Educational Evaluation and was a Research Director for the Community Outreach Division of Children’s Television Workshop (CTW), the creators of Sesame Street.  Additionally, Dr. Ticke conducted market research for the development of various educational products including educational toys and educational materials for both daycare providers and elementary school teachers.  Following the completion of her doctorate, Dr. Ticke was employed at New York University’s School of Education where she worked as a Northeast Regional Trainer for the Reading Recovery Program.  As a BCC faculty member in the Department of Social Sciences, Dr. Ticke teaches a variety of courses in Psychology. She has also served as BCC’s Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) Coordinator for over a decade.  Her academic scholarship has focused on the areas of best pedagogical practices, literacy learning, and the social construction of meaning.  She is a licensed Psychologist in New York State and earned a certificate in Psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Institute.
