Facilities & Planning: A Small Team Managing Big Projects
While most of BCC’s capital projects have extended timelines, summer provided a great opportunity to take advantage of ongoing work being done across campus.
Led by Octavio Gomez, Facilities & Planning has two team members who are BCC alum, Ariana Qarri, a 20-year BCC employee and Lilian Romero. Jose Lai is the 4th team member.
Here are just a few highlights of projects the team has been working on:
Flags at Roscoe Brown
Flags in Roscoe Brown represent the more than 100 countries our students are from. Check them out if you haven’t already.
A sign accompanies the flags, with the words: “The world meets here! Each year BCC is proud to welcome our international students hailing from more than 100 countries. These flags represent the native countries our students are from. Our diversity is what makes us so extraordinary. Our diversity is what makes us BCC.”
Relighting in Meister
This summer, Facilities & Planning continued with the replacement of 2,000 light fixtures in the laboratories, classrooms and stairwells of Meister.
Bronx Express
Work has begun on the Bronx Express (see architects’ renderings below), a multi-year project to renovate 24,000 sq. feet of space at Meister and be able to house the offices of Admissions, Registrar, Bursar and Financial Aid all under one roof – one-stop-shopping for students.
