#SmallChange Food Donation

Access Resource Center (ARC), formerly known as Single Stop prepares food for distribution.

#Smallchange, a community group that serves people in need, has made a huge donation to the Bronx Community College Food Pantry. Working with Interim Dean for Workforce Development & Continuing Education Karla Renee Williams and Public Safety Specialist Alexandria Torres, #SmallChange contributed enough shelf-stackable food items to fill the President’s Conference Room in Language Hall. From there it was moved to the pantry in Lowe Hall with the help of Provost Lester Rápalo, Student Success Vice President Irene R. Delgado and her Executive Coordinator Linda Mckernan, as well as Athletic Director Ryan McCarthy and his assistant Faith Thompson.

The food will be distributed twice a month to BCC students, who are allowed on campus by appointment during the pandemic.

“It’s a very generous donation,” notes Tami L. Hepbourn, Administrative Assistant and Office Manager of the Access Resource Center (ARC), formerly known as Single Stop. “Food insecurity is always bad and because of COVID-19 many of our students have lost employment and it’s even harder to pay their bills. Their children are at home for three meals as opposed to one or two. This contribution will help out students in a big way.”
