NAEYC Accreditation of BCC Early Childhood Center

  Update   •

BCC faculty, staff and students congratulate BCC Early Childhood Center on another five-year term of accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

National Association for the Education of Young Children“The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children.” (https://www.naeyc.org/about-us)

Jitinder Walia, Executive Director of the Center since 2009, credits her staff for earning this mark of quality. Only 7% of early learning programs nationwide are NAEYC accredited. To gain accreditation status, the school must meet rigorous standards in the categories of physical environment, health, family and community relationships, curriculum, preparedness, communication and teaching. Teachers are observed in the classroom and points are awarded where standards are met. The school building itself is also graded along with classroom portfolios that document children’s work over a span of time. This is the third NAEYC accreditation term BCC Early Childhood Center has been awarded.

The Early Childhood Center supports the school readiness, social-emotional development, and well-being of children ages 2-5 along with the college retention, graduation, health and well-being of their parents at BCC.
