I didn’t know when I met President Carolyn Williams over 15 years ago that it would turn into a lifelong friendship. She was my confidant like no other.

I remember when I drove her to Albany in a snowstorm so she could get the funding to furnish North Hall. That was a scary drive, one we often talked about. She was determined to get there and I was determined to get her there.

My visits with her and her family in Detroit were amazing. I learned so much more about who she was and those are memories that will last my lifetime.
