In honor of Women’s History Month, the Hall of Fame Art Gallery at Bronx Community College is pleased to present the exhibition Ruth Bass: Portraits of Women, 1974–2001, now on display in the Roscoe Brown Student Center [BC], room 211.

A faculty member at BCC from 1965 to 2020, Ruth Gilbert Bass (1938–2021) was not only an educator, but also a curator, critic, and artist. The eighteen works on display span four decades, allowing viewers to appreciate the variety of sitters Bass portrayed throughout the years, while following her stylistic development over time.

Portraits of Women will run from March 7 through April 28. Gallery hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Art gallery programming is supported in part by the Music and Art Fund, BCC Association Inc., the Art and Music Department, and the Office of Academic and Student Success. For additional information, contact gallery director Dr. Andrea Ortuño at andrea.ortuno@bcc.cuny.edu.
