South Bronx Unite, Blackstone Launchpad, ASAP and First Year Program Collaborate to Host Workplace Challenge at BCC in Celebration of Earth Day
On April 10th, South Bronx Unite, a dynamic grassroots organization dedicated to enhancing the social, environmental, and economic landscape of Mott Haven and Port Morris, joined forces with Blackstone Launchpad (BLP), ASAP and the First Year Program at Bronx Community College (BCC) to host the Workplace Challenge. This collaborative event aimed to engage students in addressing pressing community issues while fostering innovation and collaboration in celebration of the upcoming Earth Day.
To celebrate Earth Day, Blackstone Launchpad organized this event to inspire students to take action on environmental issues alongside South Bronx Unite. Leslie and Matthew, dedicated employees of South Bronx Unite, led the charge alongside Blackstone Launchpad, guiding students through a series of activities designed to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and community engagement.
The Workplace Challenge, held at Bronx Community College, served as a platform for students to actively contribute to this vision. During the challenge, students were divided into teams and given a brief window to brainstorm innovative solutions to address key issues facing the South Bronx community. Representatives from South Bronx Unite provided valuable feedback and support as students refined their ideas into cohesive pitches, complete with accompanying decks.
This collaborative effort between South Bronx Unite and Blackstone Launchpad exemplifies a shared commitment to empowering students to drive positive change within their communities while fostering innovation and collaboration.
