Spring 2023 Student Convocation

The Spring 2023 Student Convocation was held on Thursday February 2nd in the Roscoe Brown Auditorium.

Bronx Community College President Dr. Thomas A. Isekenegbe opened the meeting, welcoming students. Dr. Isekenegbe spoke about perseverance and determination as the driving force for success both in studies and in life.

Tiffany Dubon-Yard, Student Life Specialist for Civic Engagement and the Mistress of Ceremonies introduced the roster of speakers including SGA President, Sierra Moncayo, Vice President and Provost of Academic Affairs, Lester Sandres Rápalo,  Roni Ben-nun, Professor, Deputy Chair of the Art and Music Department and Chair of BCC Senate all of whom offered welcoming remarks and sage advice for students.

Keynote speaker BCC alum, Bright Tsagli, the 2019 Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship recipient and Business & Public Policy student at Brown University came back to address the incoming students and shared his life’s journey, and time at BCC.  Bright spoke about his love for the college, the help and support he got from so many members of the faculty and staff, and fellow students, as well as well as his unwavering commitment to his education.

The festivities concluded with Tiffany Dubon-Yard leading the commitment Pledge with the help of members if the Male Empowerment Network.
