HabibaThe City University of New York held its 2020 CUNY Research Scholars Program Virtual Symposium from July 27 to August 3, and Bronx Community College had one winner in the presentation category: Habiba Masoud (Adijat Adebola, Biological Sciences Department, Mentor) with her research on The Secret of DNA Barcoding: A Powerful Tool for Documenting Biodiversity and Enhancing Science Education.

In all, twelve STEM students and eight faculty mentors from BCC participated in the symposium. Vishwanauth Persaud (Dickens St. Hilaire, Chemistry Department, Mentor) was the BCC representative in the oral speech category with his research on Is America’s Cleanest Water Killing Us?

Katherine Acevedo Coppa, director of the BCC -CUNY Research Scholars Program, says “It is always rewarding to see our students do so well at this venue after putting forth their time, commitment and hard work on their research.”
