Benjamin Gilman Scholarship

Professor Andrew Rowan, a major figure in BCC’s study abroad programs for many years, has now been recognized by the U.S. Department of State for his work with the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.

“We are grateful for the expertise and time that you shared in evaluating the 1,500 received applications to select 900 recipients of the Gilman International Scholarship Program,” wrote Heidi Manley, USA Study Abroad Branch Chief, and Gilman Program Officer Theresa Gagnon. “In recognition of your contribution to Gilman Scholarship Selection Panels, you will receive an electronic digital badge, which is a verified indicator of achievement.”

The Gilman Program supports American undergraduate students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. BCC students have been among its many beneficiaries.

Congratulations, Professor Rowan, for being honored for “diversifying and expanding study abroad and international internship opportunities for your students.”
